Welcome to the Department of Primary Care Medicine at Universiti Malaya. As a leading academic department in Malaysia, we are dedicated to advancing primary care through excellence in teaching, research and clinical service, grounded in holistic, people-centred and community-oriented care.
Established in 1987 as Malaysia’s first Family Medicine training centre, our department has played a pioneering role in shaping family medicine education in the country. Through the integration of teaching, research, clinical service and community engagement, we continue to advance primary care education, services and research at the national and international levels.
Our strength lies in our people. We bring together educators, clinicians, researchers and learners from diverse disciplines and care settings to nurture future doctors, family medicine specialists and researchers. Our goal is to provide high-quality primary care services and produce meaningful research tailored to real-world health needs.
